Cross-Guard’s Engineering Manager Awarded Top 30 Under 30

What is Top 30 Under 30?

The Top 30 Under 30 award is designed to recognise talent in the Humberside region and to attract further individuals to the area by highlighting career opportunities. This will be the award’s fourth year running. To be put forward for the award, people need to be nominated by someone within the organisation they work for. Top 30 Under 30 celebrates up-and-coming, talented people under the age of 30, who have gone the extra mile in their line of work, progressing well within their career.

Celebrating the achievement of Curtis, our Engineering Manager

Nominated by an anonymous employee of Cross-Guard, Curtis has recently been announced as one of the winners of the Top 30 Under 30 award. We feel this is well deserved, as Curtis has progressed a lot during his employment with Cross-Guard to his current position of Engineering Manager.

After joining us as an Engineering Apprentice, Curtis immediately stood out as someone willing to go the extra mile, taking on various other responsibilities. Following his hard work and enthusiasm, he now looks after a team of four, as our Engineering Manager. Going from being an apprentice himself, to managing apprentices joining the business, is a huge step.

Curtis’s progression journey is extraordinary. Taking ownership of vital business projects, including the management and re-design of critical projects, Curtis always looks for ways to improve and enhance his skills, and the skills and experience of the team. He is always driven by continuous improvement.

Most recently, Curtis can be seen in a customer-facing environment, taking on more responsibility by meeting our clients to ensure they get the right products and solutions. In the words of the individual who nominated him: Curtis is a shining example of what a young person can achieve.

The next challenge for Curtis

Now he has been awarded Top 30 Under 30, Curtis will be taking part in the LEAP programme (Leadership Excellence Acceleration Programme) to further develop his skills. This will involve ten different sessions which, covid pending, will take place in the KCOM football stadium in Hull. In fact, Curtis has already had a virtual meet and greet with all the other winners, who will also be attending the course.

The LEAP programme is designed to focus on three key areas: leadership, self-development and communication, delivered by industry experts. It’s all centred around key skills and experience to further enhance leadership in the workplace. In addition to the programme, we may also welcome the team from Humberside Business to our Cross-Guard premises, in order to understand our industry and film a video.
