Wire mesh security cages: global installations

Cross-Guard’s wire mesh server security cages offer increased ventilation

Cross-Guard continues to grow, developing its product range and presence within an increasing number of countries across the globe. This article looks at wire mesh security cages the company has installed for notorious tech companies, including those that are part of the GAFA group. Cross-Guard is proud to serve these tech giants, working closely with the global clients to design bespoke products that meet strict end specifications.

Different types of materials are used for security cages in data centres for a variety of reasons, including wire mesh and steel. Although Cross-Guard’s Connexions cages are known for exceptional strength, wire mesh cages do have the benefit of being able to offer improved airflow within server rooms. Cross-Guard has installed them in places including London, Bulgaria, and Portugal. We will look further at wire mesh security cages, including the potential to have underfloor and above ceiling wire mesh barriers.

Wire mesh security cages

Cross-Guard was challenged with a project goal of designing the highest airflow product that would meet strict client specifications. By replacing an existing non-mesh perforated wall panel for a security cage with a 3mm wire mesh panel, Cross-Guard helped a client increase airflow in their data centre by 11.2%. This reduced the chances of important IT equipment and servers overheating. Replacement of another wire mesh panel for the same client increased airflow by 11%.

Wire mesh underfloor barriers and above ceiling wire mesh barriers

For an additional level of security, clients can choose to install underfloor and above ceiling barriers. Wire mesh can be a popular choice for these barriers to help aid ventilation. Working with our clients, we install solutions that will suit while also operating around any logistical challenges.

For one specific client where we installed these underfloor and above ceiling barriers, the Cross-Guard team were able to complete installation within one visit without any complications, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the individuals involved. Underfloor and above ceiling security cage barriers were installed flush to cage walls with no gaps greater than ½ inch x ½ inch anywhere in the cage. This means cable baskets and unistruts protruding the cage are sealed and reinforced to keep to the standard.
