Update on Cross-Guard’s aluminium cold aisle containment
Launch of the new cold aisle containment
Cross-Guard’s new aluminium cold aisle was launched in March 2019 at the Data Centre World event (London) and well-received by clients at the event. The product, consisting of aluminium bi-sliding doors and an aisle containment roof, was available on stand for clients to view and interact with. Based on discussions at the event, the team at Cross-Guard have taken on-board client suggestions and are implementing further changes to make the solution even better.
Adam Butler, Commercial Director, said: “Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the new aluminium cold aisle – the response was really positive, and we look forward to developing the solution even further.
“We’re already in discussions about changes we can make to the product in order to deliver even more value to our clients. We’ll continue to provide updates.”

Benefits of aisle containment systems in data centres
Cold aisle containment and hot aisle containment are becoming increasingly popular solutions to implement as part of a data cooling system. By not containing cold air and separating the cold air from your ACU and hot server exhaust air, your data cooling solution is costing you more.
Aisle containment ensures your data cooling solution will drive return on investment and maximum energy efficiency, which is vital in the data centre and IT industries. Main benefits include: reduced energy costs, improved IT equipment and server life, reduced hot spots, increased power usage effectiveness and lower carbon emissions.
Additional benefits of aluminium cold aisle containment
While maintaining the benefits of steel cold aisle containment, the new aluminium cold aisle containment also provides additional advantages. This containment system is #LighterQuickerSmarter. Aluminium is a lighter metal than steel, meaning its easy to adapt for future requirements. It’s quicker to install (installation times can be reduced by over 50%), and the aluminium aisle containment looks a lot smarter.
Improvements to the aluminium cold aisle
The improvements planned for the aluminium cold aisle will enhance its appearance even further, transforming data centres with its aesthetically pleasing look. The accuride bottom rails will be changed to brackets to hold the door closed, giving the product a sleeker appearance. The soft close functionality will also be adapted so the doors will look even better from the inside of the data centre aisle with minimal components on display.
