Data Centre World digital: Cross-Guard’s experience

Times are strange, and certain business is still conducted in the digital space for the safety of all those involved as we continue to take covid precautions. Cross-Guard has attended the Data Centre World event every year and is also looking to exhibit at the postponed physical show in 2022. This year, however, the company was willing to trial something different – the Data Centre World digital event.

About the Data Centre World digital event

The organisers of Data Centre World decided that, since this year’s event must be postponed to next year in adherence with current guidance, they would run an additional digital event this year, free to all those who are exhibiting in the physical 2022 show. During July, we were available for visitors to connect with us on our e-stand at Data Centre World digital. Our e-stand offered a variety of different contact options, from email, to live chat and video chat. We also had a daily Q&A. The header of this post shows what our digital banner looked like on our stand.

Our experience of digital events

It was exciting to have a change and to see how things might pan out in the digital space, but as a company, we’ve decided physical events are more valuable, once it’s safe to resume these. It’s nice to have personal face-to-face engagement, where visitors can take time from work to browse suppliers, and where we can offer more on-stand engagement, such as the Safe Hacker competition we’ve run in prior years. We also found our popcorn machine to be a hit last time!

What can be said about physical events

We feel there’s still much to be said about physical events, and it’s unlikely the exhibition space will turn completely digital any time soon. Once restrictions ease, and it’s safe to do so, it’d be good to connect with everyone in person. We’re registered for Data Centre World 2022, but we are also exhibiting at Data Centres Ireland.
